Discovering What We Have

When we looked at the house in late January, the yard was filled with weeds, blackberries, and a handful of dormant fruit trees.

According to the neighbors on either side of us, the women who lived here before us tilled the field once a year and planted a variety of things. From the looks of it, the fruit trees were planted around when the house was built, in 1945, and she didn’t do much with the yard in the later years of her life.

Now that Spring is in full swing, and Sonoma County has been having a stretch of 70 degree days, an assortment of other things are popping up amongst the weeds and blackberries. Its like an Easter Egg hunt, I find something new every day!
